OTYG formed in the spring of 1995 to reinterpret the old and highly revered Scandinavian folk music with a metal twist. The line-up boasts of Vintersorg (lead and background vocals, guitar, lute), Mattias Marklund (guitar), Fredik Nilsson (drums), Cia Hedmark (violin and vocals), and Daniel Fredriksson (bass, mouth-harp, willow flute, keyed fiddle). The first demo emerged in the fall of 1995 and was entitled Bergtagen. March 1996 saw the recording of their second demo, I Trollskogens Drommande Mörker. Although this second recording stirred the interest of a variety of labels, Otyg recorded a final demo, Galdersang Till Bergfadern in June 1997 before signing to Napalm Records. Shortly thereafter, OTYG recorded their full-length debut Älvefärd in December 1998. Their second release on Napalm Records is entitled Sagovindars Boning. |
