Two years after the mighty concept album Carpathia – A Dramatic Poem, THE VISION BLEAK return with The Wolves Go Hunt Their Prey. Stronger and more diverse than ever before, Ulf Theodor Schwadorf and Allen B. Konstanz spent over six months in the studio working intensely and meticulously on their third studio album. Their efforts have resulted in an album that is impressive on all accounts. “The Metal parts, i.e., the guitar riffs, have made it more into the foreground on ‘The Wolves Go Hunt Their Prey’,” explains Ulf Theodor Schwadorf as he tries to encapsulate the album’s quintessence, “but still there are bombastic orchestral sections, acoustic guitars, sitars and lots of atmospheric details featured in all songs.”
So, is this a further milestone in THE VISION BLEAK's development? Certainly, but this time it appears more subtle than in the past. The Wolves Go Hunt Their Prey comprises tracks that rank among the heaviest the band has ever written; yet at the same time they deliver some of their most atmospheric and most stringent tracks. ‘The Demon Of The Mire’, for example, exposes the Death Metal roots of the Franconian duo more emphatically than ever before; ‘The Black Pharaoh Trilogy’ recalls the epic proportions of their previous album; and, by virtue of its sweeping character, ‘By Our Brotherhood With Seth’ might just become The Vision Bleak’s new band anthem.
