POWER QUEST was formed in March 2001 by keyboardist Steve Williams after leaving London Power Metal heroes DRAGON HEART (now DRAGONFORCE) with fellow bandmate Steve Scott to take care of the bass duties. 2001 - THE DEMO CD The first, self-titled two-track demo was recorded and uploaded onto MP3.com in early 2001. The recording was supported by ZP and Sam Totman (currently with DRAGONFORCE), along with Adam Bickers on Guitar. 2002 - WINGS OF FOREVER CD In April 2002, vocalist Alessio Garavello was recruited to the POWER QUEST ranks. In July 2002 Italian guitarist Andrea Martongelli accompanied Alessio to England while he recorded his vocals for Wings of Forever and put down a couple of guest solos. The band was impressed with his ability and creativity and offered him the chance to join the line up shortly afterwards. Wings of Forever received amazing feedback from the fans. 2003 - NEVERWORLD CD In January 2003, drummer Andre Bargmann joined the QUEST as Sam Totman was cutting back his involvement with the band due to his other commitments. NeverWorld, the follow-up to Wings of Forever, was recorded at Thin Ice in the summer of 2003, produced by Karl Groom and mixed by Pete Coleman. The album was released in March 2004 via Now and Then/Frontiers Records. 2004 - CD RELEASE & TOUR With the Neverworld album released to critical acclaim in March 2004, the gigs with THRESHOLD in September '04 were a tremendous success, gaining the band a new group of fans! November 2004 saw the band play a show with DREAM EVIL and LABYRINTH in London, and then later in the month the band headed back to Thin Ice studios to record three new songs for the third PQ opus, Magic Never Dies. 2005 - MAGIC NEVER DIES CD and DVD Francesco Tresca joined the band in February 2005 as the new drummer, shortly after completing drums for Magic Never Dies. The album was released to great critical acclaim. 2005/2006 - TOURING In November 2005, the band headed out on the road in support of the new album and played six UK shows, culminating in appearances at the world-famous Marquee Club in London and Firefest II at Nottingham Rock City. POWER QUEST supported HELLOWEEN on the UK leg of their European tour in February 2006 and received a great reaction from the fans! 2007 - TOURING & NAPALM RECORDS In February 2007, the band headed to Europe for a three-week tour supporting ANGRA and FIREWIND. The tour took them to France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal, and was a resounding success! A new recording deal was negotiated with Austrian label Napalm Records and the band hit the studio in October 2007 to record their 4th album. 2008 MASTER OF ILLUSION “Master of Illusion” was released in April 2008 and named the best Power Quest album to date. It received an amazing response and was voted one of the top power metal albums in 2008 by various sections of the media. Unfortunately, bassist Steve Scott decided to move back to New Zealand to be replaced by the well known German bassist Oliver Holzwarth (Blind Guardian, Tarja) on a permanent member basis. The 5- piece introduced the material on a few UK tours throughout the year, finishing with co-headlining the 2nd stage at Hard Rock Hell Festival in Wales. 2009 END OF AN ERA – START OF THE NEW QUEST After successfully headlining the 2nd stage at Hammerfest in April, vocalist Alessio Garavello decided to quit the Power Metal genre. This decision began a full line-up change. Shortly afterwards, both Andrea and Francesco decided to leave as well. The split was amicable and over the summer, founder Steve Williams hunted high and low to find the right people to continue the Power Quest legacy. This led to the recruitment of Andy Midgley, Paul Finnie and Rich Smith, who have become vital cogs in the PQ wheel. The old line up did an emotional farewell show on 26th September at Metalfest in Dudley. 2009 ended well for Power Quest supporting Tarja and later Michael Schenker on their UK tours. 2010 RECORDING OF BLOOD ALLIANCE In 2010 the new line-up was finally completed with the addition of vocalist Chity Somapala (Ex-Firewind, Civilisation One) and guitarist Gav Owen, The recording of album #5, “Blood Alliance”, was completed in September. The album was mixed and mastered in October, and will be released in March 2011 by Napalm Records. Following a relatively long break, the band revolving around mastermind Steve Williams will finally release a new album! "Blood Alliance" presents the melodic power metal combo at its best. Driving drums, catchy metal riffs, and virtuous guitar and keyboard leads are the ingredients making up Power Quest's sound. Once again, the band focuses on memorable melodies and captivating hooklines, without ever neglecting the fine details that creep out of the woodwork with each successive run. The new man on the mic, Chity Somapala, has proven his weight in gold with powerful vocals on tracks such as the sweeping "Glorious", or the catchy "Survive". "Blood Alliance" is not only a new chapter in Power Quest's history, but also a loud and confident proclamation of melodic power metal that will not stop at merely convincing the genre's fans of its musical prowess. Power Quest is: Chity Somapala – Vocals Gavin Owen – Guitars Paul Finnie – Bass/Backing Vocals Steve Williams – Keyboards/Backing Vocals Rich Smith – Drums Andy Midgley – Guitars/Backing Vocals
